Giving the seller more money would be a classy move, but remember that people get weird once they know what something's worth. Take your jeweler for instance...
I agree and I tried being that guy once, to one of my (once) favorite estate sale ladies. She is a small single owner company. I threw her a $100 bill the next time I saw her after scoring decent on a couple items I bought at her previous sale. Since then her prices shot to the moon, when it came to the items I picked out. I quit going to her sales shortly thereafter. Sometimes it pays to be nice, sometimes it doesn't. I'm not saying I won't give someone a couple extra bucks for something every now and then, for the most part though, the (too low) price of an item is not my concern anymore.

BTW- Beach, if I had your luck at sales when it comes to finding coins and jewelry, I'd be a rich man now. I guess you don't have the competition over there that I do or something. Around here they go knocking on doors the day you list your sale, if you mention coins or jewelry in your ad.

I've had this happen before I went back to give the lady more money for the necklace I bought from her and she told me to give her the necklace back. I told her no and she got all mad. Total backfire. It's different when it sits on a table at a yard sale... game on. If I go to somebody's house I would told her straight out and gave her $600 or $700 for that watch.

She did say next weekend though that they were having a fundraiser at this church right by my house so I might anonymously donate some money there though.

No good deed goes unpunished, right? I agree 100%, especially now with the internet making it so easy to research values. If they don't do the work and you do, then you win and they lose. Every now and then a special situation may arise where giving some money back may be warranted, but not very often.

Two of my friends from back home in Pennsylvania are down visiting this week. They asked what I was doing tomorrow morning and I said going to yard sales and they said come pick us up we want to go too! So I have to pick them up across town at 6:30 am so we can go to a community sale 35 miles away by 8 o'clock. I'm not taking much money though so I'm going to have to focus on quality not quantity this time.

I get real put out on the yard sales around here. It seem one in every 50 you stop at have a true treasure. The best thing I recall was a Wright & McGill bamboo fly rod called the water seal. I got it for 10 bucks put it on eBay auction for 85 and it sold for $555.00 I did find a 18K ring once and a sterling cream and saucer set with a sterling tray to match that was made in Mexico and some guy in Russia bought it. I need to stay out on the weekend when I travel for work and hit the yard sales in town like Vail and Aspen sometime. I find all kinds of goodies in their save the birds and other green peace like supporting thrift stores they have when I'm in the area. I did buy long ago a vintage 1938 Audemars Piguet all 18k gold case & band, in a (Rich Town) pre-owed clothing shop, but I gave $1200 for it. It had a busted main spring and when it was getting serviced some collector in Boulder saw it and the watch repair guy called me and asked if I'd be willing to take $2000.00 from his customer. I called the guy and tried to get him up to 3K, but I settled for $2500. I'd have your watch guy pull the movement and weigh the case and band to see for sure how must gold you have, just to know. I do that myself as I have a few watch tools.

This year has been better. I think there's more people who have moved down here. There's more people on vacation, there's more people that are seasonal down here this year. and also I think a lot more people have gone back to work. So those who were out all the time are now working again. Don't get me wrong there still a lot of people that go but I bought these watches at 10 o'clock this morning. That normally is gone as soon as they open the door. And there was a Haitian family in there besides me. And she said I was the fourth customer of the day. When I pulled up there was people loading up a car and then there was a truck leaving. So I don't know what other people are looking for but I've definitely trying to specialize myself and jewelry marks at least the main numbers and stuff.

Oh he did pull it. It's 40 grams for the band. Wait altogether is 44.9.

Speaking of watches I got this one too at Salvation Army I think it's actually a really good watch but it's in the stupid rim or tire keychain. Should I take the watch out and sell it separately?

Pryngeps wind up.
I'm having a hard time getting a good picture because of the case. But under the name it says special. 17 Rubis incabloc Swiss.

This one works really good too it's been running for a least a day.

Another watch Saturday. image-1354990566.jpg image-4245333656.jpg You can imagine after the one I found Friday my excitement when I saw this box on the table at a upscale yard sale. But this was a type of watch I've never seen before. An invisible one. image-192415686.jpg I figure the box has got to be worth more than $5. So that's my $.99 auction for the day.

I'm not sure if there is anything here that might help you. <img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1131789"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1131790"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1131791"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1131792"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1131793"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1131795"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1131796"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1131797"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1131798"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1131799"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1131800"/>

It kind of looks like the one that's $7500. Then there is another one in there too that is close to it. Could you imagine spending $7500 on a watch? Or really anything besides a house I don't know that's a lot of money! For an item that's really useless.

Anyways that's a pretty nice looking book. What is the name of it? I think I need to spend some time learning about watches!!

I purchased the book at Ollies, you know "good stuff, cheap!!" ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1426513124.881251.jpg
I'll check the title when I get home. It's a really nice book too. All high end designer pieces, but it has some really cool color pics. It is best for putting a date on a piece. Or assigning a model number/name. Also helps with some of the inside parts for authenticating an item. I definitely paid less than $10 for it. If I'm there in the near future, I'll pick u up a copy.

Buy any empty Rolex box you see. Worth great money. Why someone would separate the watch and sell the box is beyond me.

The guy said he had a lot of Rolex watches. But I'm not in the market into something I don't know. I probably would have spent too much money but I suppose I should've got his phone number anyways just maybe to have him sit down and teach me but I didn't think about that at the time.

The guy I sold the Rolex to said to be very, very careful. He said that Rolex brings out a lot of bad elements. Remember my faux Rolex band? It had real 14K gold in it. Who goes to that kind of trouble? Obviously big time crooks. There are also sites that make very sophisticated fakes. I have to go check out how your auctions are doing!

Another watch today: seiko lord matic 23 jewels.
My question is it's working and the band is scratched up but I have a brand-new one should I have my watch guy put a new Crystal on it and a new band or just sell it as is? I don't have very much money into it. It came from in the state today and some of the other pieces will make up for what I paid for everything. But should I fix it or leave it?
