I was running the sales on Saturday, and at the first house, we came across a BUNCH of toys. All older (mid 1970's to mid 1980's). In the center of everything, was a nice looking Odyssey 2 video game system. I looked in the box it was sitting on, and there were dozens of games in the boxes. Mostly mint. I quickly set a price ($30 for everything). The system had the Voice controller. I took the thing home and started looking through it. There are over 30 games, including the three rarest. These are large games that include game boards, pieces, magnets, money, and so on. All of the pieces were still in their original bags. The cellophane shrink wrap had been removed, but the games had never been played with. Too bad. Video games that are still sealed are 4x to 10x or more. Underneath everything, there was a second copy of "The Great Wall Street Game." This one, still with the shrink wrap on. The system with the 36 regular games (all games have the original instructions are are in near mint condition), the voice controller, basic programming language with book, so on should sell for $250 to $300. The 3 large games should go for an additional $25 to $40 each. The sealed one is a mystery. There is a Sealed, graded, and slabbed copy of the game up for $600 obo. It will cost me $50 to get it graded and slabbed. Video Game collecting has grown like crazy. The prices on the rarest games are exploding, so who knows...

That was my best find of the weekend... I did pick up three new GE Thermostats. They are currently on Amazon for $48.50 (well, mine are $46.99). I paid $5 for the three.

I also got a book about movie posters for Porn movies of the 1960's and 1970's. The book is in french. The english version is worth $50. The french is available on amazon for $695. I priced mine at $499.99. I'll drop the price every few months until it sells. I had to break my rule and pay $2 for that book. I rarely pay more than $1.

Another book, local history book for redondo beach, here in Southern California. Local history books are generally VERY limited production, and when you have an area with the history of Redondo Beach (Very early Surfing Capital), there is hopefully outside desire. Cheapest copy on amazon was $1200. I figured I'd start at $799.99 and drop it every month by $50... unless someone wanted to start a race to the bottom. Again, paid $2. We'll see on this one...

Very interesting weekend of hunting.

I often see obscure books for sale on amazon with insanely high asking prices.

IMO, these are not real prices but some sort of algorithm based pricing scheme.

IMO, your French book may be worth even less than it's English counterpart. I am not sure, just a suggestion.

You are right. I pick up books like this when I can get them for $1 or at most $2 each. 99 times out of 100, when I post it $50 below everyone else, someone drops a penny below me. I will go $50 below them, and they will drop again. I had a book drop for $600 to $9.99 in about a week. Sometimes the price stays up. Sometimes the books sell at prices I consider to be ridiculous... Who am I to judge. I am here to sell, not judge.

Nice finds. I still have the Odyssey system that I found a couple years ago at the hoarder house.
