I picked up this vintage brooch/pin?? up at an antique shop this weekend. It was discounted to a price of $62.71 and the dealer had a scale for me to weigh it. The scale was flip'n between 2.7 & 2.8 grams and I did check her scale with a nickle from my pocket. This morning I checked and spot price on 1ozt.AU is at $1108.00. :( This puts me paying $6.64 over the spot price. It is a vintage late 19th early 20th century piece with platinum layer top. I had a similar piece of the same era before that sold for $185.00 if I recall, so this time I felt it was okay to go over the limit on the price if all I was looking at was the scrap value. It sure is pretty.
