It would be considered a tea table, not a coffee table. Tea tables have the railing where as coffee tables do not.

It looks a bit more contemporary and might not be an antique. The "carvings" don't look very detailed and seem like they were mass produced.

How is the top attached? Slotted screws or phillips? Are they bare metal or plated? Is the underside oxidized or newer looking. The finish can tell a lot as well. Is there any chips in the finish where its light underneath? It could be a tinted spray on shellac that mimics stained hardwood.
