Went to one of several garage sales last weekend, and for $25, I bought new in the box, assorted size and lengths of standard slot-head, zinc coated steel and solid brass woodscrews up to 2-1/2" long. The assorted boxes overfill a 5 gallon bucket and up about 4" deep in a 20 gallon plastic storage tub. Conservatively, they weigh 40lbs..... Have you priced 2" brass screws, lately?

In reality, if I can get them organized, it's a lifetime of screws, if not, it's a lifetime spent looking for the size screw I need at the moment......

Spent $40 on $2 baggies of costume jewelry and found just over $200 in 8/10 if a gram of 10kt gold, 7.5 grams of 14kt gold (1st pic checked with the diamond checker shows small heart diamonds are real) and 60 grams of Sterling silver (2nd pic).

It appears the seller didn't know what "585" on the heart necklace meant, and the 10K earrings' marking was in an unusual place and just overlooked. My wife is keeping all of the rhinestone jewelry she finds mixed in each baggie. The remaining other costume jewelry will resale/recoup at least half of the original cost at our next garage sale.....

Another community-wide sale had a young couple "just cleaning out stuff". The Pulaski firemen's axe head, like in the picture, was in a Free pile.

Their RC Cola sign had a $1 sticker-dot they stuck on it. On it's weathered edge the camera picks up the faded year of 5-48, so it's an original...

Garage sales ran the limits of trash and treasure. But, last weekend's flea market is slowly coming back from the dead. For my workshop wall, I found the antique hand-augers with their homemade T-handles for $25.
