Hey guys got back from an estate sale that was locally featured in my area so there was a TON of people there, got there about 4 hours after they had opened and everything was picked through, they still had a case full of overpriced sterling flatware... However everyone missed this bag full of gold pins, maybe because it was right next to the Nazi badges? No idea, anyways there were 4 10k pins weighing to a total of 7.8 grams for $35! Can't go wrong with that! 20160227_203816_resized.jpg 20160227_203853_resized.jpg
Also found this cup with these small stamps on it, they are of a head facing to the right, weighs 77 grams, had them tested at the coin store and they tested positive for silver, don't know what percentage though?? Help? 20160227_203649_resized.jpg 20160227_203710_resized.jpg 20160227_203716_resized.jpg 20160227_203724_resized.jpg 20160227_203731_resized.jpg

Definitely French. Nice buy. Was it sold as silver or plate?

It was sold as plate for $10 right next to the very tarnished cups they had, it stood out like a sore thumb and nobody looked twice at it.... Worth melt or more?

If it's in really nice shape I wouldn't scrap it. Too many people scrap the nice stuff and once it's gone, it's gone! I either flip the good stuff or keep it.

Good eye and nice picks. As already stated it's French, the actual makers mark is the diamond shaped impression on the bottom of the cup, you may be able to trace it down here- French Makers' Marks - A - Online Encyclopedia of Silver Marks, Hallmarks & Makers' Marks . The one on the side of the cup is the Minerva head guarantee mark, it looks like a 950 mark. The only thing I ever think about scrapping are damaged and broken pieces, usually jewelry or candlesticks.
