This morning I picked this pair of earings (together with ton of other jewelry)from a garage sale
They are marked something like number 4 and the letter K at the middle (behind)
I cannot clearly see 14k,it can be something else.(because they are not so shiny)
So I just wanna know how to test if they are little pieces of gold.
Please help! Thank you

Since I'm just about to test one I'll show you some pictures real quick. I have a ring it looks gold so I scratched on the stone. And it leaves a yellow line. I'm going to take the 14 K acid and put it on there. If the line stays it's gold if it fades away I can test it for 10K or it's just junk.

I tested it with 14 K which faded and then I tested it with 10K which it faded away also

Take them to a pawn shop or a jewelers and have them take a look.
I was at Harbor Freight 2 days ago and found a 5 pack of "jewelers loupes" for $3.99.
5 Different strengths of magnification.
NOT nearly as good as a real jewelers loupe, but good enough for now.
Hope your earrings are the real deal!

Oh thank you so much for all suggestions!
All of my friends (that take a look at them)said that these earings should't be gold LOL
Because they tarnished
Real gold will never tarnish?

Gold shop confirmed that they are 14k gold,he also told me how to clean them

Thank you all for the suggestions!!!

I think they mean 24 karat will never tarnish and will always stay shiny. It's the other metals they add to lower the karat that tarnish.
