Went to an estate auction over an hour away today. I am very happy I did!
Paid $36 total for everything. I'll list the prices I remember but I can't remember what I paid for each thing.

Up first are four hammers for $3 each. A 5lb ball peen, 5lb cross peen, 4lb ball peen, and 2 pound cross peen. I could sell just one of these and make all my money back but I have been needing these for blacksmithing.

Next is a lot of stuff that was bundled together including a small 1 person summer time (too thin for winter out here. Gets down to -40) tent, tire chains, 2 vintage dust pans, and a bag that appears to be from WW2 Britain. Was made by the same company that made their parachutes. After I patch the few small holes I'm going to use it as my range bag.

In a different bundle of stuff I got a pile of about 20 sets of hex keys, a socket set, and the weird wrench thing in the pictures. Anyone know what the wrench is? I know I have seen them before just can't remember what they are.

Also got these for $3 each I think. Called tire wrenches or something. Turns out they are worth something. I was just going to use them in the forge. Also got this old metal L ruler that is awesome.

Also got these random things of metal tossed into one of these lots. No clue which one. All I know is they ended up in my truck.

They look to be something to do with cars. Could be for a jeep because he had a lot of stuff for jeeps.

Almost forgot but this was also tossed into some bundle I bought.

Anyone know of a used market for these?

Last thing I bought was this spool of wire for welding. Thought it was copper but I think I was wrong. Weighs about 50lb. Anyone know what it is called?

That's a lot of cool things. the wrench thing goes to a grinder to hold it while changing wheels. Nice stuff.

Those things are cool. I try to hit as many auctions as I can. It can be sort of a treasure hunt in its own right. Quite addictive. Got piles and piles of things! Every now and then I get something quite valuable for very cheap.

Check on the brass part on the top middle portion of the level. There is usually a name and sometimes a pat. date as well.

Nice haul, sad thing is mechanic tools are not worth much used, I know as being a retired mechanic I have spent thousands of $ on tools through the years and now would be lucky to get maybe $500 for a full chest of snap on tools, oh well I guess someone will get a deal once I am gone lol, I wont sell them , better off keeping them since i do use them from time to time on my own vehicles.

Which ones are the mechanic tools? The tire wrench and what else?

Copper wire doesn't rust. It's steel wire. For fencing or something.

I was told after I bought it it is for welding. Before I bought it it looked to shine like cooper. Must have been the lighting. I guess I'll use it to hold stuff together.

That is a spool of wire for a MIG welder. However, it looks to be rusted so it would not feed properly. Probably just as well to use as tie wire. Some of the other stuff you got is cool though. love auctions.

" I could sell just one of these and make all my money back but I have been needing these for blacksmithing."

Don't forget to look for blacksmith tools with the name "JAY SHARP"..... I bought a 2lb. cross-peen for $4 and sold it for $375.00...:tongue3:

The pic ending in 3306 that has the "Y" wrench. It's a wrench that tightens the jamb nut on a larger portable hand grinders. The prongs go into matching holds drilled in the special tapered nut to allow changing grinding and sanding discs.

Good Finds fill your tooling gaps!
