Good eye ! It's a half tent , possibly Vietnam era or earlier - not sure . It has US on it and I noticed some other lettering's & numbers on it when I was hanging it on the clothes line . I will look into it .

They were still using WWII, Korean War Era and early Vietnam War left-over tents in some if not most Basic Training Camps and AIT (Advanced Individual Training) Camps in 1972 and 1973, so it could Date anywhere from the 1940's through the 1960's. Hopefully, there is a Date on it and should be found with the Nomenclature stamping. Spent some cold nights in those things. The Two-Man Tents we used in Germany (back then, West Germany) were likely from the same period. On my second Field trip to the Hohenfels Training Area, many of us that were in the Trains Area, got floated out of our' tents and one guy nearly got ran over by a VTR (Vehicle Tank Recovery) Unit. We were there 63 days, it rained 58 days if memory serves me correctly and because it was so wet, we had to sleep on air mattresses. Woke up to 8 to 10 inches of water in and outside the tents and troops floating all over the place. Heck, my first Field trip to Hohenfels, we were there for 61 days and it rained 59. Luckily, I was in the TAC (Short for Tactical Command) Area on this trip as I was the Company Armorer.

You tube rocks...

Where else can you learn everything from testing gold to how to brush a skunk without getting sprayed in the face.

ehh heh :P

Um.... I went to sleep with what I said in my head...

I have to change my statement about Youtube...

YouTube does rock... The concept that is...

BUT... half the vids ... If not more than half .... SUCK ! ! !

The ones that are clear and to the point MAKE it what it can be.

This axe is my favorite of the group . The handle is beautiful - long and slender , kind of ''petite'' like a ladies axe . The head has the " Phantom Cheek Bevel "

Mo! Mo! Mo!!!!! You lucky dog, you!!! That's a dream come true! Are you packing blood pressure meds or Nitro? Getting to do that and keeping a straight face should have made your cheeks hurt as you drove home....

Lots of good tools, there. "Just think what's in the house"

Keep us posted if you get to go back, I'll be waiting for another adventure!

Way to go!
Bill
