Picked up a watch

Wanted to share. I got a couple of watches this weekend for $200. The best one is monogrammed but 18 K waltham premier men's watch. So far keeps good time! I'm going to put it online. I don't really want to sell it but a good offer I will. i'm sure the name on the back it hurts it though.
I can't seem to get it open with out scratching the heck out of it though.

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't think a name on the back would hurt the value too much.

I hope your right! I could have it removed but I don't want to ruin it either. Probably just best left alone

No, monograms on the back of watches never hurt the value of watch..... If anything it helps date the watch as well. Never remove the monograms! Vintage watch collectors would go crazy. You'd basically be washing the story behind the watch away.

That is a great watch . I would much prefer a monogrammed or an award watch over a plain watch. I think it helps the value not hurt it. I just picked up a 1972 Hamilton Electronic watch. I would've only paid about $25 for it but it was monogrammed from the Charlotte (NC) police department on an officer's retirement so I paid $50 instead. Just waiting on a battery to see if it works. Here's a picture of it after a Crystal polishing and good cosmetic cleaning.

It's probably a mix of buyers that don't care or frown on this issue. I think it's somewhat rare to find these classic American brand wristwatches case in 18k gold. Most will be a 14k solid case and so many more in goldfilled. I wouldn't have the mono. removed.

By the way Waltham used the Premier designation starting in 1938 And not much is known on how many years after continued but it wasn't long.

I can't get the case open so I can't give you a picture of the inside. That was my goal but I feel like I'm going to scratch it so I will have to update with it inside photo.
