Got this awesome 1930s-40s bracelet in great condition for being gold filled. 1/20 12k with tassels and it slides to fit your wrist. I pay about $0.32 a gram for gold filled which is a decent price. I also picked this pin out of the gold filled pile because I thought it looked a lot like solid gold. It has an emerald, ruby, and a pearl. Looks like it could be a higher carat for the axe and log part. I will have to get this tested I suppose now!

Another couple of great rescues from the scrapper, Spartcom5. Would you consider sharing how some of us could formulate relationships with the refiners in our areas? I'm just unsure of what my approach should be if I want to inquire about a business relationship with my local precious metals buyer. Do you offer your guy a blanket certain percentage over melt?

I actually should have been more specific! I don't deal directly with the refineries I deal mainly with coin shops who ship stuff out to refineries, that is where I get to dig through piles of jewelry awaiting eminent doom! haha The only downside to this is that since all of the rings are just thrown into these huge piles together sometimes they get damaged but it doesn't happen too often. I have been lucky thus far! It's crazy the stuff I find! I could imagine some of my pieces being quick sales at antique jewelry stores.

Great idea. I bet lots of great stuff gets melted. I thought about doing that before watch movements where they scrap the case.
