I bought this this weekend and the dial seems to not work correctly. The watch works fine. 30 J self winding. 10k gold filled. It does not open from the back because it is a solid case. So how in the world do you open this thing?

Through the front. There is a tool to "pop" off the crystal. It tightens and compresses around it until it is smaller and lifts off. I don't own such a tool, but you can see pics online. Looks a little like a spider to me when the "legs" of the tool are open.

I use a cough syrup syringe and a piece of plastic wrap. Pull out the crown hard and it will disconnect. Then cover the hole with a couple of layers of plastic then poke a hole in the plastic. Put the syringe on it and jam the plunger down. It should pop the crystal off. Make sure you push the inner crown stem in then rotate the movement counter clockwise about 15 degrees and it should drop out. Check out this video.
