I swung by the flea market for the first time this year and got there before they started closing up because of the rain. Mostly the same crap from last year but I did stop by one table and picked up these two weighted sterling silver candlesticks for two dollars total. I couldn’t believe she priced them at a dollar each. not only do they have the bases but they have the screw in extensions. The pictures are after I polished them. They were pretty tarnished. You hit the mother lode. Very sweet

Condition looks great JimDon...

I rarely find them in that condition... when I find them they almost always have some sort of ding or damage.

Also... that style with risers almost always shows some form of "twisting" of the neck due to someone turning wrong way too far.

I've only found 1 pair with the extensions over the years, well one "cheap" pair that is. I agree most weighted candlesticks show damage of some kind. 4 out of 5 are usually damaged in some way or another. I have noticed that many sterling pieces will sell for a nice premium when they have been polished up. You'll do good with those.

I found the same Preisner set for $3 each at Goodwill. 31.1g sterling for each base, (minus the extensions) when scrapped.

Thanks for the scrap weight. I was figuring about 50g each but they do seem to be very thin compared to Gorham.
