After watching all of your gold watch scores and feeling totally left out I finally got to feel the glow of the gold halo! Hit an estate sale at lunch and found quite a few unadvertised watches. 3 hours in and this was still there. Picked it up for $8. Marked 14kt inside the case! Nothing too special but glad to get the gold watch monkey off my back ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1532024884.021039.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1532024893.173407.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1532024902.459301.jpg

Yes, 1910’s or 20’s. I serviced it last night but think tthe main spring is broken or became unhooked from the barrel. I will take it apart again tonight and replace the mainspring or reset it and hopefully it will run. Looks good mechanically so I have high hopes.

Ok - where do you get the main springs? All the watches I have that are “broken” are hair springs and a few are main springs. I did my first hairspring replacement on an ETA 2783 about a month ago under the careful hand of a buddy. Since then, i’ve tracked down hairsprings for several of my other watches. BUT the main springs, they seem impossible to find the r they are $30 on ebay for a watch worth $45.

I need a cheap source for watch parts.

I bought a huge lot of Bulova parts. in it were other mainsprings. Bought a huge lot of crystals also. I probably have over 1000 different crystals. Also screws and various other parts including hands. Interestingly in it there was a lot of cigarette lighter parts. If you need any parts let me know and I’ll check and see what I have cheap cheap cheap!
