Just doing a bit of tidying up on some older threads, mainly for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

Nice item. Specifically, that’s an Asian “pan iron”, used for pressing silk.

Heck now I know what those are. I've seen these brass items before in the antique shops and thrift stores. Some even had green stone handles. I always thought they were a Chinese ladle or something to dip liquid with.
