I was out early Saturday morning running some errands and I saw a sign for a yard sale, so I decided to go take a look, even though I was a half hour earlier than the opening time on the sign. As soon as I got there I saw the teak wood folding table with the huge brass platter top, and hand chased designs, but then I saw the faceting machine. I asked the woman if it was ok to look as I was early, but she said go ahead. I asked about the faceting machine first, and the man said $25! So I told him I would buy it, and then asked about the table. The woman said $25 as if it was a question, so I offered $20 and she accepted. Then the guy told me he had a rock saw if I would be interested. Turned out to be a Lortone 8" trim saw, also $25! Then I realized I didn't have any cash, so I asked to run to the ATM and come back and they agreed. I think I can sell the faceting machine locally for $550, the table for probably $200 locally, and the rock saw for $100...Paid $75 for everything. Lapidary is big here, Idaho is "The Gem State" after all. Beautiful table. Very Mid Century. Great scores on the machines as well! Congratulations. It's a little funny to read that you were concerned about being a half hour early! Over here in Florida, a half hour early, is a half hour too late! :-) All the best!

That's amazing what you get your hands on at the dump. I can't rummage through anything at our local landfill. Guess they have the one man's trash is not gonna be the poor man's treasure rule.

Your table is a Bedouin tent table. It is made to collapse and be carried on pack animals. The tray is made to lift off so the women can put food on it, bring it in the main tent for the men and depart and eat in their own tent. Muslim culture and all. Third one I have seen in 25 years.
