Big Binoculars...??

My buddy bought these big heavy "binoculars" with mil lines and stuff when viewed though, from some kid at a garage sale for $5.00 , too big and heavy to go bird watching with...he asked me to put them on ebay.....sold for $2400... guy that bought them said they are actually off of a German Uboat and was used to aim torpedoes from the conning tower...we wondered what those doodads and things were used for on that set of "binoculars" ...lol.
