    hey found this item at the auction and couldnt resist.hope its worth the 11 dollars i paid. im a fan of old weird junk.western electric stuff is cool.been around the net and cant tell if its a microphone or a speaker.maybe it aint complete.it is stamped western electric tho.thats my extremely alert guard cat SHRIMP helping me .HA !

    This does appear to be an old broadcast microphone. Some bring several hundred $$. Check eBay.

    I agree shoot it up on Ebay you may get some big $$ the lunch boxes and hot wheels in the pic are slam dunks if you ever want to sell them

    Very cool, My mom used to have some things like that. I don't know where she got then.
    But, she sold the stuff at yard sale.

    With the magnet and paper remains,I vote for 'speaker'.Western Electric became famous for telephones.

    that looks like an early model of a radio microphone, later ones were known as a can.
    It's probably worth more than what you paid for it
