unbelievable garage sale transaction!!!!!
My wife just came in with a 1899 half dollar and a 1917 half dollar that an older woman used to buy a dress. Boy, am I glad I was sitting down when she gave them to me. I found it pretty funny because I would of gone detecting but I agreed to stay inside and watch all the kids! If you can't go to the treasure have the treasure come to you.

Re: unbelievable garage sale transaction!!!!!
That's crazy! You have to wonder if she's just going through and spending her husband's old collection or something. Think you can track her down? Might be worth your while.
We all know there's no such thing as a "hunted out" location. Let's stop using that phrase to describe a park out of which you just dug a pile of coins! Obviously that particular place wasn't "hunted out", right?

Re: unbelievable garage sale transaction!!!!!
Wow, willie d, that's great!
I had a similar experience in Tulsa a few years back when we were on the last day of holding a garage sale. Wife had an old sewing machine she wanted 20 bucks for; some guy came in and offerred her two 1922 Peace dollars in XF, and 3 Walker halves in EF. She came in and asked me if this was OK.
Of course I about fell outta my chair, but of course composed myself and said "well, I guess if that's all you got"

While Detecting one time an Elderly gentleman
stopped to talk.
During our conversation he brought up the steel
pennies from the 40's, and asked if I ever found any.
after telling him the problems finding them & the condition
their in when I did, he pulled a few out of his pocket.
said he had a few rolls & was just having fun distributing
them around.
he gave me 3 we talked a little longer & he left.
My point
she may have been doing the same,
just going to the sales & distributing her
coins around for the thrill of doing it.
Would have been a great person to
shadow for the day
Congrats !

Re: unbelievable garage sale transaction!!!!!
I think I would have fainted if someone paid at my garage sale with that kind of money.
Last weekend I did my own sale and after it was done I found a 1919 wheat penny just laying on the grass. And I thought that was cool.

Not really. My wife got it from her Grandmother for her birthday. It was one of those "what was she thinking?" kind of gifts.
