Hi All

Quite a while ago I lent my Garrett Ace 250 to a neighbour to find a ring that they never found and, through nobody's fault, it turned into a long term loan during which time they got ill and passed away and I moved overseas...but I just got it back! Unfortunately the new set of Duracells that were in it were still in it having leaked all over it.

I cleaned it up best I could this morning using mild vinegar to fizz off the crusted on battery residue and rubbed down rusty contacts. New batteries now power it up, the settings and buttons work and the display seems to be OK but it just sounds a continual tone. Is there anything I can do? Is it dead? I'd really like to use it this coming Tuesday on a friend's land so if anyone can advise me on anything I can try to resuscitate it, I'd be very grateful.

All the best
Joe

If you are convinced your contacts are clean and working again ," reset" by pressing (while holding down) the power button till it beeps. Should be ten seconds or less.
That takes you back to factory settings.
