I've been detecting off and on for around 15 years, but around 2 years ago when I retired I bought an AT Pro, then a year ago bought an AT Max.

The 15 year old machine has been relegated to the grandkids.

My question is, "How deep through snow with the AT Pro Work?

I was trying to help someone out today after they lost a very old 24K gold ring.

The snow is very deep here, so I am going to wait until spring breakup to go back and look for it.

But, not having used my gear in snow before, I have no idea how far though snow the AT series will work or do a lot of folks detect in the winter or just hang it up for the winter.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks.

One sure method is to use a test target and see how much snow it will detect through. 24K ring should be fairly easy to hit. I'd go back for it for sure. Probably read mid 80's if it decent sized band. Thin band not so much. If snow too deep and you can't find it, wait for snow to partially melt then try again. Should be real nice signal.
