I have used them. They do not affect the performance but don't last too long. Regular batteries will last LOTS longer.

Go ahead and use them. The regular nickel metal hydride battery will drain when not being used. The newer generation hold a charge for at least 6 months. Always carry a set of alkaline just in case the recharge ables drain on you.

I just bought two sets of 4 eneloop rechargeables and they've been pretty awesome so far. (I use a Garrett Ace 250)
