I had noticed with my last couple of hunts that the steel studs on my winter ice climbing cleats interfered with my coil, in that it would beep at times giving the impression that the coil was falsing. I adjusted my coil swings so that it was out another foot, making it to about two feet from my toes before I actually got zero interference from the coil. So, if you are wearing shoes/boots with steel eyelets, steel shanks in the boot or steel toes, expect to get interference from your feet. It would probably be wise to run the coil over your shoes to see if in fact there are any pieces of metal in them.

Yes I have to remember this when I wade while wearing my wading boots for stocking foot waders as they have brass studs and the Excal goes off on them.

HA HA!! I have that problem sometimes but it isn't with my shoes. It's with my feet. I have 11 screws and 2 plates in my right ankle and 2 screws in my left ankle plus some hardware in my back. I have to swing wide to avoid my feet but I have adjusted to it.

For metal free boots look at Bates Footwear.
They have an aggressive lug sole and wear like a pair of sneakers.

I have a pair of these and you can't beat'em for a C~note, and no more sounding off on the boots! :laughing7:
