Is the DD coil, that comes on the AT pro, the best for finding rings and other gold items ? I will be using it everywhere, tot lots ,parks and the beach.
I don't know what to say............ Any coil will find gold rings, silver rings and junk if you don't have disc turned up to high and it will also find a lot of trash. The stock coil is the best compromise between depth and use in trash. You just need to get the coil over it.

Thanks for the help. I asked this question because someone said they were buying the 6.5 x 9 coil, since they were hunting rings not relics.

Most relics that people want to find are deep and they may hunt where there are no parks or tot lots and such so they like the deeper coil. The smaller coil you use you are better able to maybe get one object under the coil at a time for proper identification. The DD coil on the AT Pro is hot down the center from toe to heel and instead of a cone shape field it is more like a wide U. This means you don't have to over lap as much with each sweep. Keeping the coil level to the ground the whole sweep from side to side allows you to cover all the ground at depth.

When I pinpoint with my ACE 250, I center the target left to right and pull the coil back toward me. When the audio cuts out i know exactly where the target is. Will pinpointing be the same with the DD coil ?

If you are talking about off the tip of the coil you are right. You can also use the center, but it is faster off the tip.
