Re: AT Pro & bottle caps

I have not used mine on the saltwater beach but this technique may work there too. Seems like bottlecaps will act like a good coin but if you slowly lift the coil while swinging back and forth over the target the ID will usually drop off. If it starts at say 82 as you swing over the target raise your coil. Usually with a bottle cap the ID will start to drop to a lower number. Coins usually stay pretty consistent.

That is good to know. It drives me crazy to think I have a quarter only to find a rusty cap. On my ACE 250 they show up as nickels, so it is weird that they show up as quarters on my ATPRo. Will try it!

In stadard mode, 4 out of 5 bottlecaps will have a jumpy signal, sometimes through all 3 tones. A coin will only vary 1 or 2 numbers.

Re: AT Pro & bottle caps

    I typically see a jumpy VDI number. And when I mean jumpy, I don't mean +/- 1 or 2, I mean +/- 10.
I then turn on Iron Audio and really slow the swing, listening for the low iron grunt at the edges.

Pro mode, disc 35, audio on
What i do is if I get a good, Hi tone. I swing my coil over the target like I was pinpointing when the target reaches the toe and
just beyond the end of coil it will give the iron grunt do again at 90 - 180 degrees, good Hi tone,HI,Hi, reaches end of coil grunt, grunt than is a bottle cap.
After you get the first iron grunt you can also use the side of the coil at 90 -180 degrees but learn the toe method first.

If you get the grunt one way and a good signal at 180 degree dig it. Even if the numbers go from lets say, 87 down to the 60's at the end of the coil with an ever so slight iron grunt dig it.
It will be a good target. My bottle cap count has gone way down, but I do get tricked by the deeper rusty caps and when I'm going to fast.

Re: AT Pro & bottle caps

Step 1 find and recover pesky bottle cap.
Step 2 notch it out, it's quick and easy to do with the pro.
Step 3 you are now not going to find too much gold if any.
Step 4 decide you will notch back in the pesky bottle cap looking for some gold, which you just might find, the pro is hot on gold rings.
Step 5 after not finding much gold, notch it (the pesky bottle cap) back out and go for some silver.
Step 6 after not finding much silver, notch it back in and try to conjure up some more gold once again.
Step 7 go all metal in pro mode with iron audio on and get some serious tectin' goin'!!
Step 8 go home and get some Ibuprofen for the back and watch some good television and perhaps have a cold one.

Re: AT Pro & bottle caps

I was assuming pro mode. In the std mode you can really get a feel for how it works because of the bell tone. The bell tone sound should drop off pretty quick on a bottlecap as you raise the coil. Deeper ones may be a little more tricky.
