Are the coils from an Ace series compatible with the AT Pro.

Re: Coil swapping.
NO. Even if the pins match on any coil, it has to be calibrated to which model your using.

Re: Coil swapping.
So, I guess this would also be true for the Sunray inline pinpointer.
The folks at Sunray could not answer for sure.

Re: Coil swapping.
The difference is other coils may not be calibrated to your detector but the Sunray inline probe would be like a small coil made for your machine. A pinpointer is not the same as a coil and won't have the same spec. as a Garrett coil for your ACE.

Re: Coil swapping.
The coil to housing connector on the AT Pro & AT Gold is different from any other coil. The AT coils have a 2-pin/2-sleeve connection with a o-ring collar for waterproofing the connection.
This a Garrett propriatary connector and I don't think they are currently willing to sell these connectors to outside vendors. (I've got a friend who is home building coils for White's machines and wanted a AT connector to experiment with for a new coil and they wouldn't sell him any...)

Nothing wrong with cutting a connector off of a AT Pro coil for experimental purposes.

No, there isn't... Unless you don't want to spend the $100+ for a coil to hack up... If Garrett would offer pieces & parts for sale, you may see better coils and accessories come about. My friend is building a "Bigfoot" type coil and he's willing to do the work to build a Garrett syle Bigfoot, but he isn't willing to buy a AT coil and I don't know of anyone will to sacrifice their coils...
