Tweaking the 1500

Okay, I'm still quite the novice with the 1500, so I'm looking for some tips or advice. General advice is always welcome, but my current question is this;

Is there a way to tweak the machine so recovery time between targets is reduced? During an air test, I had some junk and a quarter about a foot apart and it recovered okay, but when they got moved closer, it would only pick up the larger junk item. I can't help but wonder how many good targets I've missed because of this. I was using the none/factory settings for this test, if that helps.

Thanks in advance

I have a GTI 1500 which I don't use much anymore because it is heavy and has a slower response time. Nothing you can do to tweak it except to install a smaller coil for getting one item under the coil at a time.
