Pulse induction (PI) metal detectors are known for there ability to punch through salt water and some of the most highly mineralized soils. They offer very limited discrimination at great depth and when set up for typical deep targets, will beep on all targets , both ferrous and non-ferrous. Yet some of the deepest gold rings are found with PI detectors on a daily basis. A typical PI user doesn't mind digging a lot of targets and knows where to use his PI to it's maximum potential. Here are some videos on the Garrett Sea Hunter Mark II. Garrett also has another PI unit, the Infinium, which has some discrimination characteristics at depth.
