I went out today for about an hour to an area I go to frequently. I decided I'd set my GB -5 just to see if there was any difference. It seemed to find the smalker stuff a bit better. I found some garbage, a Mickey Mouse Ring, and what I believe is a religious charm? (I'm soaking it right now, and will take better pics when done)

I had to quit when the fearless mosquitoes moved in and tried to take all the blood from my body.... I got out just in time...

Nice.

What's the marking on the ring? The religious pendant looks old.

Updated Pics

Here are some pics of before and after cleaning this cross. You can see quite a bit more detail, but I'm still lost as to if it's for a certain saint, or what religion it's for. I'm very curious about the age of it also. Any help is appriciated! Olive oil to the rescue again!

Hey Sapper,
What is that cross made of? I found one similar but mine is just junk, aluminum.
No dirt even stuck to it at all. Crummy photo but look. What's the size of it?
Mine is 1.5"

I'm gonna say it's old copper. It's about 1 1/4 x 1 inch. (Guessing, I don't have it handy at the moment) I asked our president of our detecting club, he's guessing late 1800's to early 1900's. I'm still researching as much as possible, hopefully I can find more out. Yours seems to have the same symbols on it.

Might have something good there buddy!
Keep us informed!
Pete

Yup! I found one 2 months ago, that is hammered silver.I dug it out of the river bank,at a old river ford used in the late 1700's. The town Vincennes,Indiana is right across the river (Wabash) and was a settlement/fort for the French,in 1730. Here's a pic. (Not very good though)

They can be sterling or pot metal mostly depends on what someone wanted to pay. i have found them in sterling and plated. Not worth a whole lot either way it's justt interesting to find and add to collection
