Found a 1950 silver Rosy dime & 1938 silver Canadian quarter along with a 14K gold class ring this morning. Three years with the ATPro - over 30,000 coins(plus quit digging zinc penny signals) and just started with my 2nd Propointer after wearing out the switch on the first one. Best to luck with everyone.

Dig them Zincolns in the old spots OldMan or you will miss all the Indians!

Got to dig those zinc pennies they could be Indian and also small silver rings. Most of the time when I get a zinc signal it ends up being a zinc penny but like rob said old sites you will miss Indian heads and I've found small silver rings in that range also. Great finds by the way.

Zincs and IH may ring up with close vdi #'s but IH's don't usually sound like crap. They are much smoother!

i agree but I've dug zinc pennies that didn't sound to bad and a small silver ring that sounded like a zinc with the broken high to mid tone. I hate digging them too but I don't want to miss anything. Heck I dig a lot of pull tabs and beaver tails too just so I can find a gold ring. I have yet to find the gold ring though but my chances are better than the guys who pass on those tones.

You will notice that my post states that I don't dig zinc penny signals - 75-77 - the corroded zincs will drop down even as far as 70 and produce a static like signal. I still dig solid smooth signals thus a chance at Indian heads cents and copper wheaties. And I get a fair number of copper memorial cents in order to not miss any dimes at around 80-82. I have recovered rings in the 70's range but never a very good one. Silver rings are the easiest usually at 80 on up. Gold rings of any decent weight will start at 50 and one will need to dig a lot of junk items in order to recover any. Same with any gold coins. As for the number of coins found I gave all of that up including keeping a logbook. Now I toss the separated finds in containers and wait until the end of the year and clean them for a trip to the bank. I can say that the old statements that "dirt fishing" & "coinshooting" as a hobby that pays for itself is true. Some of the users of the high price detectors refer the ATPro as a "chump change" detector. Well they may find more silver and old coins then me but I can take all my "chump change" and buy more silver than they find.

Did you save your old ProPointer with the worn out switch? They are easy to rebuild if you can solder surface mount parts and the switch is only around a dollar from most electronic suppliers.

This rang up a solid 76, I dug it because it was a clean 76, not scratchy at all. uploadfromtaptalk1407285099167.jpg

must of been reading that loop also and silver rings come in that area also. A lot of the dime is missing so that makes sense.

Things Ive dug that read 76...which is a zincoln signal on my AT pro...old tokens, silver rings, a 1911 Canadian large cent, a large gold ring, etc...but 99% of the time its a zincoln...if Im not in an area where old finds are possoible and there are lots of em, I leave em still.
