Just on the phone with dealer. He said the 5x8 was quieter on the beach in wet sand than 8x11

The stock coil is going to be a bit deeper than small coil and concentric will be deeper in non mineralized soil but the deepest point of detection is very small like a cone. In trashy areas the bigger coils won't help because of all the targets around each other so the smaller coil will do a lot better where depth won't matter. In open areas without a lot of targets you can cover more ground with bigger coil. I haven't noticed much depth loss on small DD coil vs stock on at pro. The stock small coil on my gold gets same depth as stock bigger coil on at pro and gets deeper in all metal mode. Going to put big DD coil on at gold in open fields when I get a chance it should get impressive depth. Hope this helps.

I have three coils for my AT Pro. The little 5x8 is an awesome coil, and pretty deep for its size. I love it for home sites. It has great target seperation. I like to use the larger coil that comes with it when I am hunting in larger areas, or fields, so I can cover more area. The 5x8 is also a lot less work to swing for hours than the heavier stock coil. EE

Today I didn't bring the 5x8 coil. Also I didn't change frequency next to a building. When I go back I will try both.

I bought the NEL 9.5"X5.5" Sharpshooter coil for my AT Pro and it has been a lethal combination for me. :icon_thumleft: Love it.

I also have a nel sharpshooter, they make sizes that garrett does not. Some will tell you they don't work as good but that is a bunch of bull.

The 5" x 8" coil is a great coil for relic hunting around old foundations. The sniper coils works good also in school yards, ball fields and play grounds.
