When I first turn on my detecter and ground balance, seems like it is a little erratic for about 5 minutes or so. Do they need to warm up or am I just nuts?

Ehh Maybe a little!! :laughing7:

I have an AT an never noticed this happening

It's probably more the process of your brain getting used to the sounds again. It takes a few minutes to start mentally filtering out the chatter and focus on the sweet sounds of good targets.

Things to check that everyone seems to miss with the ATP.

1. Make sure that coil to Head unit cable is wrapped SNUG & The end fitting is ALL the way in, its a little tight but makes a triumphant difference

2. Make sure when you GB you raise and lower around 7-9" and and the lowest downward stroke should be 1" from the soil/ground and that's where you would swing from.

3. If you are near any electrical boxes, move away, it has a huge disturbance with these machines. I was 25' away from one once and it was just going Bat $hit crazy, got 40' away and it completely stopped.

Good luck!
