I believe they do not.the coil is made to match the detectors freq.an expert will chime in I'm sure

Compatible coils are made only in the same frequency.

Ok, I was starting to believe so. It's that I was checking some stuff on the net and saw this metal detector which had this feature.

The AT Pro and AT Pro Gold are different frequencies but according to Garrett's website they take the same coil. ????

I have read they both use the same coil. Though they operate at different frequencies:

AT Pro 15khz
AT Gold 18khz

That does not sound right ... Let's see if one of the Garrett people can give a good and honest answer to this ... I have no answer to that for .. garrett 8.5x11 PRO DD coil will work on the ...PRO detectors And ...the Ace detectors And ....the GTI detectors And so will the 5"x8" PRO DD ....and the 4.5" Super Sniper coil will work on those detectors.. 6.5 and 8.2 and 7.2 and of course the 15 and 18 khz coils I guess you can use any Freq. coil on any detector ..That is new to me .. I REALLY thought that the only detectors that could do that was the Minelabs X TERRA 705 detector ...

The gold and the pro use the same coils. It doesn't change the frequency like some of the other manufacturers coils do.

The Pro Detectors use Pro coils, the Ace machines use Ace coils and GTI uses GTI coils. Each coil is marked Pro, Ace or GTI. 2 Pro machines share the same coils, 3 Ace machines share the same coils and GTI2500 has its own coils.

All 3 X Terras can use several different frequency coils, there is talk about Minelab coming out with different frequency coils for the Go-Find 60.

Sorry I was talking about the detectors frequency. Not the coils.

and what 4 are they?

I don't know the specific frequencies.. This is from the manual.

Use the PINPOINT/Freq Adj pushbutton in conjunction with
the (+) or (-) SENSITIVITY pushbuttons to adjust frequency.
The AT Pro is capable of operating at four slightly different
frequencies in order to minimize the interference caused by
electrical sources (e.g. power lines) or other metal detectors.
To see current frequency setting, hold down the PINPOINT
button and press the (+) or (-) SENSITIVITY pushbuttons. Tap
one of the SENSITIVITY pushbuttons again to change the
frequency to find one with the least amount of interference.
The frequency setting (F1–F4) will be indicated on the LCD.
Release the PINPOINT button when finished.
Note: Frequency adjustments are small and therefore do
not affect target detection capabilities.

Yes i think it stays in 15 freq , And just drops down or goes up a small % ... Like a freq of 15.2 or 15.8 something like that

Yes, just enough to get away from interference. I just scanned over the X Terra 705 manual and did not see anything about changing frequencies without changing the coil.

Yes Keppy your right. Its all a marketing ploy to sell detectors.

Sandman ..You are right ..You can buy a 8.5"x 11' PROformance coil and it will work on the GTI2500..the ACE detectors and the AT detectors .. the same with the 4.5" Super Sniper and the 5x8 Pro....

It's like a noise cancellation feature on the minelab detectors. Right???

Not really. It's of very little value. If your hunting with someone you can change frequencies to stop the interference. Other than that your just pushing buttons hoping something will change. It's a minute change in the field that you would not notice.

Yes, except that depending on which Minelaba machine you are noise canceling on, it will choose between 5 and 255 channels.
