Perry I use a set of Army web gear (LBE) and 2 bungee cords. It works great. I only use it when I am swinging my 12" x 15" coil.

I will attach some pics when I get home from work.

Another option is to go with a straight rod. If you Google Anderson Shafts.

The harness helps a lot on the bigger coils. It causes less fatigue on long hunts

I use the Detector Buddy just hook it to the shaft below the control box. With the Nel's it gets heavy but the slings distribute the weight

Here are the pics of my Army LBE.

You can see I have a very small bungee cord wrapped around the handle to provide the attachment point.

The bungee cord that is attached to the LBE is 14" long.

I only use the harness when I swing the 12" x 15" coil.

I have the NEL BIG coil for the ATPro, it NEEDS a harness. Likewise my ATX and Exclaibur with the WOT coil NEED a harness on the dry/wet sand, in the water there is NO problem. I tried several including the one that came with the ATX. Though it is a very pricey the ONLY one that worked well, on all three detectors, for me is the Minelab ProSwing 45. It is very similar to Digger-Loco's LBE with a very important addition: a weight transfer rod that transfers the weight of the detector from the attachment point on the chest to the rear of the waist belt. The ProSwing needs several adjustments to get the fit correct but once done it is fabulous.
