Sorry to bother you.........three years ago is a long time!

No, you're not bothering anyone! Sorry I came across that way.

Took a trip down memory lane....

The 2000 isn't bleeding edge compared to the detectors on the market today. Lot of people spent 250-300 more bucks to upgrade their 2000 to a GTI2500.

Then again it comes down to what you want. I enjoy swapping around detectors, being an enthusiast, trying out different ones is part of the hobby.

The weight turns me off my GTP1350, but it does things that I like. To give you an opinion, the 2000 was the beta for the 2500, the 2000 had some quirks. I didn't see an owners manual for the 2000 on Garrett's website, I'm guessing it wasn't around very long. But you'll read some people like the "Treasure Talk" feature, yes it would actually talk to you....it was removed from the 2500

I use the GTI 2500 and often attach the treasure hound for some real deep targets. Its a great detector to come behind and check any missed signals. Never used the 2000 but have read it wasn't the greatest. Like all beta detectors they usually have some bugs needing adjusted. Once again it depends where and what your hunting. I'm a land hunter usually around trashy old homesteads 1700-1900s.

The 2000 is just as good or the same as the 2500.. Garrett will the last i heard make a 2000 into a 2500 for around $400.00 and the treasure talk will not be in it after they make it a 2500..

Know nothing about it. Loved my AT Pro, got rid of it and lots of extras, to get the Etrac, which I love. Saw this at an online auction, I bid $75. I have teenage grand kids.......they are strong!
