Test plot item spacing ?

I am thinking of making a "test Plot" using plastic window boxes and wonder how far apart the items must be ae;
can I put 2 items in a 24" tray or 3 in a 36" unit ??. Perry

I just made a test garden a few weeks ago.
Having plenty of room I spaced everything out about 3' apart.
this way I have plenty of room to swing with no over lap.
items are buried from 4",6",8"and 10"

I would keep my test pieces at least 18" apart, to accommodate a large coil. Just keep in mind that any silver coins will not be picked up at greater depths for at least a couple of years. Below is my test garden I set up in my back yard.
