Many factors can effect the VDI reading on any target. Depth, moisture, proximity to iron etc. Most bullets I find read from 60 and up but I have found them that read much lower. Buttons will do the same way. I try to focus more on the sound and the consistency of the VDI more so than the value. This has helped me a lot. Just my 2cents

All good advice but no firm answer because there isn't one. Most civil war buttons will come in at high 40's to middle 50's there a mid tone basically. Bullets are solid lead so high 60's low 70's there going to be a high tone since there way more conductive.

That is a GREAT chart// except the clad penny is all over the 70s I don't think I hit anything that varies from the chart/// Perry

The Truth about it.

Hey guys my name is Yarry Yousef. I came to this site because it seemed user-friendly and like a awesome place to talk and just interact. A little about myself, ofcourse, when people are shy they will not speak, however i am not shy. I currently own a garage door and gate repair company. Thank You Guys for accepting me!

like Relic Nut stated there are a lot of factors involved. if you are getting a good repeatable tone dig it.
A lot of Deep targets will not give a VDI. That being said I have been digging a few bullets lately.
a mini ball usually gives a 67 and up. a round ball usually hits at about 58 .
hope this helps

Two piece buttons are all over the chart. I've found them loud at 38-42 on up to 77-80. I'm sure you've seen guys mention to dig everything. The more you dig the more you'll find that quote is true.
I usually will dig a cut nail on purpose just because it sounds good and every so often there's a flat or two piece button near it.
Old shotgun shells mimic buttons, dig them all.

Just so you have an idea. I wrote the VDI numbers to the left.

The second Shotgun Shell from the top I turned in different ways to show how the numbers change.

I have never found a Mini Ball bust most lead I can dig with AT shows at 62 like the 50 cal. Round Balls.

The Colonial Flats as you see are all over the chart.

The two piece buttons your looking for will be like the second shell from top. All depends on there position and the few I've found I always thought were junk before digging them.
