Well, it will definitely be yet another improvement/addition to their current AT Series. Still made in USA, serviced in USA and sold internationally by the same company who has been in business for over 50 years.

Well ,.....we know its not an " AT pro 2 "

Word is that its not an upgraded or improved AT pro , but a standalone AT ( all terrain ) detector ,....an addition to the " AT " lineup. They currently have three , the AT pro , AT gold and the ATX , with the new addition there will be four. Any " new " one will likely fall somewhere in between the other three , both in functionality and price.

I would say just about the opposite of terry if your talking about the aces completely different circuitry and filters between the new ones and old ones yet similar graphics .If your talking about the at series the pro and gold similar graphics yet completely different circuitry and filters so what is the same.I cant wait to see the new garrett

With the promised ( or atleast rumored ) " built in " wireless ability its not the same old thing. I doubt we will see any advancement that would necessarily qualify as a game changer , but we will just have to wait and see. If I were in the market for a new detector right now I would wait for the unveiling of the new model and see what it has to offer before deciding on something else. Its not that long of a wait now. As secretive as Garrett has been about the new model they could have something unique up their sleeve. If not........ atleast that's new information you didn't have before.

I've heard rumors that the new detector might be a mix of pulse and vlf technology. That would be sweet especially if it has a vdi read out for pulse and allows you to discriminate.

If that were the case, that would put "ALL EYES"on the Garrett platform.

They'd sure capture a huge new market if that is the case. It would have me lusting and I'm dedicated Minelab.

Not much chance of that happening , that would be extremely expensive for both Garrett and the end user.......when Garrett likes to keep things simple and affordable. It would also rob sales of the high dollar ATX. Nobody knows for sure what the new addition will be but they will not likely offer anything quite that groundbreaking. I think a design change might be part of it possibly , but I think we should look more at what people realistically wished the AT pro had ,.....bigger display , backlight , better connectors , etc.........for an idea of what the new one may offer. The AT pro is a very versatile machine ,....look for more versatility or ease of use , but within reason.

They looked at the Makro Racer 2, and thought, "well we could do wireless to?" Come on! Wireless headphones is the new "it" accessory. EVERYBODY will eventually introduce them to their lines. Something "unique" up their sleeve? :laughing7: Sure, why not? :skullflag:

Sure seems like a long time has elapsed since last tech innovation by Garrett. They are missing another md buying cycle.

I also have the AT pro and have read up on the Impact and have already ordered. Hope to have a smooth transition. I am still keeping my pro as I really like it. Was hoping to see more on pro2 also.

Since the ATP has out sold ALL others I would just take care of its problems: as pointed out above ,
A backlight, better connectors and placement, larger display,
make it wireless and call it an ATP2///
