Hey all, I want to try some shallow water hunting this year. But I'm wondering if my ATP is still "water-proof" with no headphones connected, but with the factory cap ( that covers the headphone connector ). The factory cap does have an o-ring, so I assume it's ok for underwater use. Just want to try thisa little before spending money on water-proof headphones and a scoop. TIA! HH

Yes. That's exactly what the cap is for. My question. How are you going to hear the detector?

If your working shallow just use the regular headphones and keep them dry// I do some streams this way// Perry

Thanks Perry2 and enamel7. I was just going to try the shallow water (1-2 feet), using the machines' built in speaker. I did try a bit last year with the regular headphones, but I tore an abdominal muscle, that cut my detecting season short in a hurry! Thanks again for your advice! HH
