As with all single frequency detectors, the dry sand hunting should be OK, but the wet salted sand and high mineralized soil might pose a problem for you. You will still be able to hunt, but will lose some depth.

I've used one on the beach of a fresh water lake with no problem. It also has a salt setting if I remember correctly.
