I have some new State quarter that are 3 years old and already tarnished and pitted. I do not think that they will last 5 years in the ground. These were never in the ground and were only recently circulated coins. At least in China, they went to the aluminum coins.....yi Jiao, sun jiao, etc.....(1 cent, 3 cents). They will last as long as the ancient coins did.
