Heres one for ya! Dig or not to Dig

So went out hunting today and found alot but had one signal that was dead center in the biggest pile of FIRE ANTS that have ever seen. What would you do would you dig it?
Or would you let them be and not make em mad?

it seems like every time I sweep across a fire ant mound my detector rings up a good signal.
I dug up one time, never again, didn't find a thing, to busy trying to keep from being bitten LOL

We've had that discussion here on treasure net before a few times... I also used to get hit on any mounds all the time... I'd always dig and always find nuthing.

I would never dig a signal in a fire ant mound... ever.

Take a gallon of soapy water and pour it on the ant nest , good thick dishwashing soap.By next day they will be gone.Do remain vigilante tho as they might not go all that far.

I still use Terro liquid ant bait, they will take it into the nest and it wipes out the entire colony

Take you a cup full of gasoline pour it on the mound, set fire to it then take a shovel, scoop up the mound and sprinkle it back on the ant mound and watch it flame up!.....................BURN THEM LITTLE CRITTERS! Of course you may not have grass growing there for almost a year, but it gets rid of them!
If I was President; I would take away welfare! I wouldn't make any bargains with foreign countries! I wouldn't take #@*& from any country! I would close the borders! I would get rid of taxes! I would make EVERYONE own at least 5 guns! I would ENFORCE Finders Keepers Law !!!!!!!!

Re: Heres one for ya! Dig or not to Dig

I dug a signal in an ant pile back in Florida, but it was during Christmas... so maybe they weren't as bad as normal, but they were still there. Turned out to be can-slaw. I just figured it kept the warmth from the day sun throughout the night. They were pissed, but they got over it.

I have used instant grits to get rid of fire ants.Sprinkle a generous amount around the perimeter of the entrance to the nest and the workers will carry it to the queen. She in turn will eat it and the moisture in her body will cause her to swell up and explode.Of course most of the other ants will do the same. With the queen gone usually so is the nest.It may take a few days.Hope this will help.
