How to Dig a Coin - Video

Dan, I appreciate you showing the video. You managed to expose my pet peave....digging a massive plug for a new penny! A better demonstration would be the same method for a deep coin. You are using a fisher and shouldn't even need a pin pointer! In 2 seconds, I would have dug that penny up with a screwdriver and wouldn't have damaged the grass at all.
Please people, a shallow clad coin should be probed up. In fact, anything shallow should be probed up. I have been doing it with ease for over 20 years. The problem with what you just saw on this video, is that if you cut a plug and then have to cut or shave into the plug because the target is in the plug, then you are further damaging the roots and often the plug falls apart. I have a big screw driver that has the end smoothed down and is by far my most effective tool. If it is 4+ inches deep, then cut a plug.
Sorry Dan, I'm not trying to put you down here, it just bothers me to see a yellow plug just for a new penny.
Dave.
