Hello 2Shoes, Seth was pretty clear on the area and I've been up in that region before so I don't think I'll have any problems finding it, but I prefer the courtesy of contacting the poster of the info. My specialty is ridge walking for caves and I seem to have found quite a few that way that have never been logged. Right now there is an issue with "White Nose Syndrome", it is a fungus that has been associated with the deaths of hundreds of thousands of bats throughout several states. Unfortunately it seems to have about a 90% mortality rate. Caves and abandoned and /or inactive mines that in the the Eastern and Southern Regions of the National Forest System (National Parks, Forests and Public Lands-22 states) are off limits unless posted as open with official Forest Service signs. Exceptions to the closure order are for research and monitoring, law enforcement and search and rescue operations. The closure does not include El Yunque National Forest in Puerto Rico because it is unlikely the fungus thought to cause white-nose syndrome would survive in the tropics. Any property owners/privately owned caves in these regions are being asked to cooperate with this decision. All state governments are supporting this and has been signed into law until further notice. Please visit the following sites at the bottom. This is not some ploy to deny folks the fun of exploration, it would be absolutely devastating to spread this around more that it already is. I'll provide the links in a new post in the main section so the folks that don't know about it get a heads up.
