LOL, sort of like being conservative - but not religious. :D

GG, that is probably due to sampling bias...but I digress.

Muddy, I am a liberal. This does not compute with some folks since I am also a veteran. Ah well.

You are right, it really has not place on a treasure forum..but IMHO, neither does such silliness as dousing and remote locating....

TreasureNet is so much more than just a treasure hunting forum.......it's a family friendly community with something to offer everyone :icon_thumleft:

Last count, there were no less than 30 or so non treasure related permanent topics to choose from. :o The great thing is, you can ignore any of them you choose to. So why even whine about them ?......................

With no exceptions TreasureNet is the very best Treasure Hunting Forum in the Entire World! With expert members in every field of treasure hunting who are willing to share their knowledge freely! Plus the leadership of TreasureNet is not so close minded as to prohibit posting about controversial treasure detecting devices that have stood the test of time. Regardless of those who doubt their viability even though the US military has experimented with using those very same devices for decades.

Long live TreasureNet :hello2:

GG~

I had to get out of here for a while because of the political forums. Plehbah and I were occasionally on the same side of arguments, but he went too far too often.

Yeah, I was there too. I know why plehbah went "too far." It's hard for an educated mind to have been constantly brought down to a level of quibbling matches with a bunch of immature haters who have nothing better to do than to go onto political and religious sections THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN A PART OF A TREASURE HUNTING FORUM!
It doesn't matter now that those sections are gone. People still fight on innocent treasure hunting posts. Calling it a fake, demanding insitu pictures, preaching ethics, hi-jacking with useless chatter........
I'm glad I'm just a lurker now with the occasional reply. I have no choice. They wouldn't delete my account! At least I deleted a few hundred posts.
:icon_thumright: to plehbah! :icon_thumleft:

P.S. Now that I responded to you, a whole bunch of people here will think that I'm a liberal, who comes from a socialist country, who blah, blah........... ::)
Yep, I don't miss it!

You are so dead on correct.
Doesn't help that they have certain moderators whose unbiased moderating is a complete joke.
And no, I'm not being a spoilsport, just pointing out facts.
This site went downhill fast, and it's truly a shame.
Like you, I'm down to the occasional posting of finds, congratulating people on their finds, and general lurking.
But like I said before, he's still out there.

I personally disagree, I think the mods have done a good job. It is a major plus that Marc moved the political and religious sections to charter members only so guests didnt just stumble into the cesspool they often became.

Well said GG.

Humans...especially men, LOVE to argue and fight, simple. We love to get our opinions across, and if someone else disagrees then the macho part of us wants to respond in kind. If the response includes name calling or making out that we don't know what we're talking about...then the door is open for war! :laughing9:
It's natural for a lot of us. Try it. Go to one of the "pro-gun" threads and tell them you think all guns should be banned...uproar! lol. If...like me ;D you enjoy "stirring the pot", "throwing a spanner into the works", or just poking fun or being vindictive for the hell of it "devils advocate etc, then the reactions can get really hairy! Yeah..it's "petty amusement" and "small things amuse small minds" i guess...but it's fun! :)

I'm a member of a site that is basically detecting dedicated. It gets boring sometimes! And that's a mostly British site where the finds are a hell of a lot older than most here. I believe this site is what it is BECAUSE of the diversity of forums available. There's an old adage "never have a conversation about religion or politics!"...There's a VERY good reason for that, and it shows up loud and clear on those forums! Those of us who go there KNOW what is likely to happen...we enjoy it. As GG said...you can block any forum you choose on here,or you can use the good old fashioned way...just don't go! :icon_thumright:

Being a moderator in politics or religion has to be an immense task, i think Peachy does a great job! She's not jumping on every little thing, and mod's with restraint, overrestraint at times sure, but i guess she tries to keep everyone happy. It doesn't always work obviously, but maybe she has a life and misses a few comments? Maybe she agrees with one side and can't help that the other side gets ticked off about it? Maybe she just rolls her eyes when someone cries that they were called a bad name by someone else and that someone else wasn't banned or deleted?...Maybe she thinks people like that shouldn't be in that kind of forum?

..Dunno, she does a great job as far as i'm concerned. plehbah probably only lasted as long because the mod's, like most of us, could never translate his posts enough to flag him up! :dontknow: :laughing9:

"Diversity is the spice of life!"...and we're lucky to have that on this site! :headbang:

Yup me too. He must have REALLY enjoyed the sixties.
I wonder if anyone actually follows (attempts to keep up with) him on Twitter.

If and when plehbah comes off his hiatus from his true love, Tnet, rest assured he will post huge garbage bags full of foil and pull tabs and crap and some impressive number of average silver coins or dirty wheaties or maybe a precious bauble that he can put in his vast collection of hollow memories tucked under his blanky or pillow............in his Sucrets tin, or whatever. Is this close to the brutal punishment he deserves?
