Guns cache, Magnetic fild

Hello everyone!

An acquaintance told me he found a box of old weapons, probably some revolution last 36 long rifles, iron box within + or - 2.5 meters in depth, he told me he found with apparatus that mediates MAGNETIC FIELD.

Is this possible?

Detector which could do it?

The weapons had not picked up moisture, could create the field?

A magnetometer could do it easily. It only picks up iron or steel.
