I live in north eastern Pa and was wondering if anyone else here has focus on checking out old ghost towns? I just put in a request to find some info on 1880-1918 for the area I live in - because I know about 3 exits down the road from me was an older ghost town- I'm just wondering how TH'ers get their maps, and what works best finding old places to dirt hunt? ???
anyhow as soon as the weather breaks here!!!! :icon_thumright:

Have you used this site?

Pick an era, click on a red dot and it gives you an aerial photo. Where are you located? May be able to dig up some old maps for you.

I'm going to try it out now!!! Thank you! it sounds like what I've been searching for...and the USGS hasn't got back to me so I'm not expecting much in the line of customer service from them. (I usually go local and get maps from DCNR/ the conservation people in the next town sell topos for about $10 each. but it really doesn't help with the older years -and finding out what was there as most of the maps are updated every few years. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
