Tesoro Cortes ground balance?

Hey all, my brother just bought a Tesoro Cortes but is having trouble ground balancing it. I have never used one and have absolutely no idea how to do it. Is there a quick, easy way of accomplishing this? Thanks

Yes he did, and what we experienced when trying this was while pumping the coil it doesn't make any sound on the way down just on the way up and it never changes while turning the ground balance knob. Neither one of us are experienced with manual ground balancing so forgive the ignorance.

To ground balance you need to be in All Metal while raising and lowering the coil. Keep the coil level with the ground while doing this or the settings will be off. Once you think you hear a steady threshold tone on the up lift and down stroke you are ground balanced. Once you switch to disc the GB is still set and won't change on you if you walk into bad ground. So evey once in awhile switch back to All Meta and readjust GB if necessary. Some of the detectors today say they are Automatic when they are in fact preset.

Having a slight raise in threshold on the up stroke is fine.
