I recently bought my first Canon digital "point and shoot" camera. I really like it but I wish I had waited another month. Olympus came out with a camera that is dust proof, shock resistant and water proof. It cost a little more than the Canon. I like the Olympus features because I carry my camera in the field when I hunt.
The Canon is a 16 mega-pixel with HD video and cost $158.00 at Wal-Mart.

Wow that's expensive. You can get a great camera for $50 - $60. Either an 8 MP or 10.1 MP is great, 12 MP's are a little expensive and not really worth it.

I like it!

I did a search on Ebay, and it must be too new. I had no search results. 158.00 is reasonable.

I've got an HP Photosmart R967 (10Mp) that takes great still lifes. Does amazing with video, as well and has a large display. The two complaints I have are with the shutter delay - it hesitates just enough when you click the button and the screen goes blank so that you're not quite sure if you're tracking the moving object (no "manual" viewfinder). Other complaint is battery life. It will hold 3,000 3Mp images, but the battery needs recharging after 30 shots or so. I have two back-up batteries.

The macro can be auto or manual focus and it's great for taking finds images.
