It works great for the heavier Minelab GPX gold machines, but I don't recommend it for the other machines, unless you plan on wearing the bulky harness.

How about the Swingy Thingy? Is it basically like a bungee?

They do help a lot if you have bigger coils.Takes the weight off of you shoulder and neck The swingy thingy is the part that goes around you to hold the bungee if you don't use the harness.
I met Chris Porter out at rye patch one time,Seems like a good guy.

I use something from kellyco that is close to the swingy thingy - and it works great for $20 - it's a harness that a bungee cord snaps on- makes the detector weightless. I can move it back and forth with two fingers to detect. very good for me with arm issues... :) get one if your have shoulder or arm issues, it will save your arm- (well not from digging- but swinging becomes wayyyyyy easier!)

Swingy thingy has a very good worldwide reputation. I use a bungee harness sometimes with the Etrac with the 15x12 SEF coil on. They're a great help.

Yeah, but a lot (dare I say the majority?) of detectorists are, uh, seasoned citizens and many have minor to major health issues that can be adversely affected by the strain of swinging the coil.
Not only that, but somebody with back/neck/shoulder issues can really benefit from these items.
